According to UN reports, over 150 female inmates were raped & burned alive by male prisoners during the chaos Channel 4 News documented the aftermath, showing Red Cross workers removing charred bodies from the female wing.
One survivor, who escaped with severe burns, recounted the terrifying experience, stating her 2-year-old baby was among the 124 children who perished in the fire Vivian van de Perre, deputy head of the UN peacekeeping force in Goma, reported that approximately 4,000 prisoners escaped during the breakout.
The women's wing was set ablaze after the mass assault, resulting in numerous fatalities The incident occurred amid ongoing conflicts between the Rwandan-backed M23 Movement & Congolese forces, which have caused thousands of deaths & widespread displacement in the region. Regional leaders have called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation of the conflict

Myth: All poisonings related to true crime involve secretive dosing over a long period. | Fact: Not all criminal poisonings involve a slow, drawn-out process. Some notorious cases feature acute poisoning, where the perpetrator uses a single, high-dose of a toxic substance to quickly incapacitate or kill their victim. |
For example, the case of Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian spy, who was fatally poisoned with a single dose of radioactive polonium-210 in his tea in 2006, underscores how poison can be used swiftly and decisively in criminal acts.

Using Digital Footprints to Unravel Mysteries
In today’s digital age, the electronic footprints left by a victim can be as telling as their physical interactions. Investigators are increasingly turning to digital evidence to understand a victim’s life, habits, and relationships, which often provide vital clues about the perpetrator.
For instance, in the case of Molly McLaren, who was tragically murdered in 2017, detectives were able to piece together her last movements and interactions through her text messages, social media activity, and location data. This digital trail not only confirmed the identity of her ex-boyfriend as the assailant but also detailed the chilling timeline leading up to her murder.
Understanding the digital aspect of a victim’s life can uncover crucial evidence and help law enforcement and analysts trace the motives and methods behind crimes, leading to quicker resolutions and justice for the victim.
is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Crime Statistic of the Week
Over 80% of Law Enforcement Agencies Use Social Media to Assist in Investigations
Contrary to the common perception of violent crimes being random attacks by With the advent of digital technology, social media has become a crucial tool in crime investigations. Studies show that more than 80% of law enforcement agencies now utilize social media platforms to gather evidence, reach out to witnesses, and even issue public alerts. The use of these platforms can significantly expedite the investigative process by providing instant access to crucial data about suspects or missing persons.
Consider the case of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Investigators used social media footage and tips to quickly identify and apprehend the suspects. Public contributions of photos and videos were instrumental in piecing together the events of that tragic day, showcasing the power of community engagement facilitated by technology.
